About Saltwater Gear Report

Saltwater Gear Report is run by Devin, an offshore fisherman who's been running boats out of the mid-Atlantic and Carolinas since 2006, with a day job in IT — networking and server administration. That combination shapes everything on this site: the fishing content comes from real time on the water, and the electronics coverage comes from someone who troubleshoots networks and hardware for a living.

The focus here is the fishing I actually do: offshore trolling for tuna and mahi, bottom fishing for sea bass and tilefish, and the electronics and tackle that make those trips work. If I haven't used something or can't evaluate it from real specs, I'll tell you.

How this site makes money
